I was browsing through the movie channels when I discovered this Noel Coward film that was originally one of the mid century’s most popular plays. It sounded wonderful, so I put my marking to one side for the evening and curled up to watch it. It was marvellous. An eccentric medium manages to conjure up Charles’ dead wife Elvira at a dinner party; the only problem is, she’s determined to get rid of Charles’ new wife Ruth. Cue much hilarity, sparkling performances, fantastically clipped accents and divine dresses. Not to mention the nowadays very laughable but then very space age special effects. It’s cheap as chips on amazon, so do snap up a copy to enjoy on a lazy afternoon! – Rachel
