My Mum bought me this Alice Pattullo print for Easter, and I think it’s gorgeous. Pace Egg Plays are traditionally performed on Good Friday and still seem to be part of Easter celebrations in Yorkshire especially. Apparently, players used to receive eggs as payment for their efforts! As Pattulo says, pace egging can also refer to colouring and decorating eggs with natural dyes, flowers and leaves. I remember an ex boyfriend’s mother used to do this every Easter. The results were certainly beautiful, although (rather greedily), I must admit I’m also pretty keen on the chocolate variety. – Miranda
