Madeleine Vionnet founded her Parisian fashion house in 1912, becoming a notable success in the 1920s with her exquisitely cut garments and forward thinking fashion.  Her sensual designs adorned the rich and famous of the 1930s and 40s and are the epitome of glamour.  To this day, her beautiful clothes are a wonderful source of inspiration. I first discovered Vionnet on a trip to Paris a few years ago, where I saw an exhibition on her work and fell in love with the effortlessly flowing garments for which she is famed. I was delighted, then, to receive this book which is full of breathtaking photographs, illustrations and patterns that show the progression of Vionnet’s career and her lasting legacy in the fashion world. If, like me, you’re a lover of vintage fashion, or are simply looking for a beautiful coffee table book, I can’t recommend it highly enough. – Miranda
