The genius that is Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is 200 years old this month. I had no idea until I read this thought provoking article in The Guardian about the modernity of Austen’s works. It is a testament to Austen’s skill as a novelist and insight as a human being that her novels are still treasured by millions today, two centuries after she first put pen to paper. Every woman can see a part of themselves in Austen’s heroines; sometimes I am far more of an Emma than I would like to admit! Why not treat yourself to a re-read of the immortal Pride and Prejudice this January? Or alternatively, curl up with Paula Byrne’s wonderful sounding new biography. I shall be! – Rachel
