During days like this, when freezing weather means I am clomping around in thick soled boots and my duck down duvet coat that helped me survive living through a winter in New York, I feel very far from elegant. My personal models for elegance are the women of Boldini’s gorgeous portraits. He is my second favourite portraitist, after Singer Sargent (you can’t better this) and the flowing fluidity of his female forms, draped in silks and chiffons, are the epitome of feminine beauty in my eyes. I discovered this new to me portrait by Boldini this week; it has mesmerised me, and made me determined to add a little more elegance to my winter wardrobe. This coat would do the job very nicely. – Rachel
